Interview filming
There are basically two types of interview:
Classic Style Interview – This is how we typically think of an interview, one person being questioned by another, with both in shot. We film these with three cameras, one focused on each presenter and the 3rd for the wide-shot to provide the overall context.
‘Off-Camera’ Interview – This is where we have the interviewer sitting behind the camera, out of shot and facing the interviewee. The questions are then edited out in post-production leaving the interviewee talking us through their experience or ‘story’. This approach is often more comfortable for the presenter and a good alternative to a direct to camera presentation.
